Sutherland’s under 14 soccer team still alive in playoffs

Despite losing its major semi final to top team Marconi Stallions last weekend the Sutherland Sharks under 14 team is still in title contention. However, it must now win the preliminary final next Saturday against Blacktown City to qualify for the grand final.

Under 14 results and draw:
Major Semi Final: Sutherland Sharks lost to Marconi Stallions 3 nil
Preliminary Final: Sutherland Sharks plays Blacktown City at 10.15 am on Saturday August 29 at Valentine Sports Park. The winner of this game plays Marconi Stallions at 10.30am on Saturday September 5.

Sutherland’s Hill wins gold medal at All School Basketball Championships

The NSW Under 18 Men's All-School Basketball team has won the gold medal at the Australian All-Schools Championships, which were held in Newcastle earlier this month, defeating Queensland 67-60 in an entertaining grand final.

The strong NSW team, containing Daniel Hill from the Sutherland Basketball Association, was undefeated in the preliminary rounds and backed up their tag as favourites by taking out the national title.

Preliminary Rounds: NSW 94 def Northern Territory 29; NSW 86 def Western Australia 35; NSW 90 def Queensland 56; NSW 111 def ACT 39; NSW 64 (Daniel Hill 11 points) def Victoria 53; NSW 94 (Daniel Hill 14 points) def Western Australia 57.

Grand Final: NSW 67 (Daniel Hill 10 points) def Queensland 60
The NSW women's team won a silver medal in their division, after being defeated 63-57 by Victoria in the grand final.
