Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

For the week beginning 1st September

The Astrological Jupiter

VIRGO

With benevolent Jupiter having a friendly chat to Saturn and the Sun in your sign it is a good idea not to fritter away this positive time. Put it to good use and accomplish something useful for yourself.

LIBRA

As Venus moves into your sign more time seems to be spent on those pleasurable experiences with a tendency to avoid anything that requires hard work and commitment. Enjoy it while it lasts.

SCORPIO

If things are not working out as you planned it may be time to pull back and take the time to reflect on just what it is you want. If satisfaction is not coming from material gain then perhaps it is the spiritual that needs attention.

SAGITTARIUS

Luck (hard work) may see you laughing all the way to the bank as your patience and integrity pay off. At times all that is needed is the appreciation and acknowledgement of a job well done.

CAPRICORN

The movement of Venus into your solar tenth house of career may facilitate favorable circumstances in your business life. You may be forced to accommodate a few changes though. Acceptance

AQUARIUS

A lot can be accomplished at this time if you can look inwards and not outwards. Broaden your understanding not only of the world around you but of the rich and fertile life within.

PISCES

The movement of Venus into your solar eighth house is asking for an understanding of the deeper motivations within your psyche, such as the value placed on mutual sharing, promises and pledges. How high do they rate?

ARIES

Generally Aries has a ‘me first’ kind of attitude so at times it can be very difficult to not only listen, but also tolerate, the views of others. Know that you can do this without compromising your own interests.

TAURUS

A renewed interest in your health has you looking at your exercise and dietary requirements. Team up with a friend the more social you make it the more likely of it becoming a fixture and not a fad.

GEMINI

With Mercury’s movement into your solar fifth house thoughts turn to love and romance. Use this time to communicate and express your feelings, making it clear just where you stand. Ask others to do the same.

CANCER

With a lot of action on the home front at the moment you may be finding it difficult to get that time alone to recharge the batteries. Then again being surrounded by loved ones is energising in itself.

LEO

There seems to be an increase in activity surrounding relatives or neighbours that is keeping you on your toes. You can expect your routine to be blown apart and to be upset for a few weeks yet.

The Astrological Jupiter

The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter conveniently stays in each zodiacal sign for approximately one year (currently Capricorn), since its complete revolution around the Sun takes nearly twelve years.

The deities identified with Jupiter were variously known as gods of thunder and storms, learning, wisdom, justice and prophetic wisdom. They include Donar, Indra, the Roman Jupiter, Marduk, Thor, Thunor, Tinia and the greatest of the Olympian gods, Zeus. Zeus was called the father of the gods and of men, the supreme ruler, the founder of law and order, with even fate itself subordinate to him.

Of all the planets Jupiter has the best reputation and is known as the greater benefic representing the higher mind, wisdom, enthusiasm, expansiveness, optimism and spontaneity. Its function emphasises the natural instinctive need for man to reach beyond his physical environment, to push past walls. It prompts us to take a chance, a risk; to try something new but of course there is a flip side to this. If not well integrated or handled this planet is one of excess. Being extravagant, wasteful, out of control and one of the possible effects of transiting Jupiter through the first house is an increase in weight.

We look to Jupiter in a horoscope for indications of ethical, religious and philosophic attitudes and as Jupiter represents the higher mind and education, going beyond the purely rational level of Mercury to seek an understanding of universal principles. So, we look to Jupiter for spiritual as well as social development.

By transit Jupiter indicates where we are trying to grow and can be a very consciousness-expanding experience.
