Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

Seeing Stars for the week beginning April 22, 2008

The Astrological Elements

TAURUS

This week heralds the Sun’s monthly movement through Taurus plus the forming of an earth Grand Trine with Pluto (rejuvenation) and Saturn (responsibility). Use this aspect to shrewdly evaluate conditions before moving to consolidate.

GEMINI

Thoughts take a practical turn with attention given to planning and considering your moves. Not a bad state of affairs particularly if it is balancing your budget or entering into business negotiations.

CANCER

At the start of the week you are happy withdrawing into your own little cocoon where you cherish periods of seclusion and privacy. Absorbed in this way you are content and stimulated by inner imaginings.

LEO

Focus this month is on career and how to get ahead. Organisational abilities are strong so too the ability to cut to the chase and secure the support of those that can help you achieve those goals.

VIRGO

Be aware that you may be less inclined to weigh all sides of an issue, not necessarily becoming stubborn or rigid about it but more prone to not recognising options and alternatives.

LIBRA

There is a great temptation to jump into unions impulsively this week so a word of caution will not go astray. Try and curb this impulse and be sure to ‘look before you leap’ into a relationship.

SCORPIO

Activity in your solar 7th house this month has you focused on relationships. Your first inclination may be to dig your heels in but more will be accomplished if you weigh up the pros and cons.

SAGITTARIUS

The Archer wants to be everywhere at once this week and as a result is rather vulnerable to poor planning and thoughtless behaviour. There is a need to develop a bit of patience and self-discipline.

CAPRICORN

You have insight, inspiration and vision this week so self-confidence should be high. If used constructively gives the ability to visualize perfect or ideal structure and form and put it into practice.

AQUARIUS

With your solar 4th house highlighted this month home and family take on more significance. This could also mean that you turn your attention to a bit of home renovation.

PISCES

Impulse spending could see you in conflict with those on the home front who will give you little support for your rashness. You may gain the same emotional satisfaction on the other hand if you involve yourself in your work.

ARIES

You will find more emotional satisfaction once you come to the realisation that just because someone does not like you, does not necessarily mean you are a bad person. Thoughtless perhaps … .

THE ASTROLOGICAL ELEMENTS

That Man was strongly influenced, shaped and motivated by unconscious powers or forces has been the theory suggested by early psychoanalysts. It was Carl Jung, who formulated the theory of psychological types, suggesting that we all possess common instincts, drives and urges but also that we all have an orientation to a particular archetype function, in a characteristic way.

These functions were the four psychological types: intuition, sensation, thinking and feeling.

Plato had also suggested four temperaments or four facilities of the soul: imagination, demonstration, opinion and intelligence.

Galen had developed the theory of four humours, which were used in medical practice from Greek medicine onwards: choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic, and sanguine.

Astrologically there are four elements, types or categories suggesting the way we may spontaneously relate to the world or function habitually in the world. These are fire, earth, air and water.

Sun sign devotees are not generally aware that there is an underlying symbolism for the sign under which they were born. Knowing someone’s Sun sign and the corresponding element associated with that sign can promote tolerance, because it can be used to build compatibility.

It gives us insight into the attitudes and emotional makeup of people very different from ourselves and suggests a line of approach we can adopt. It can help us feel much more secure and relaxed in our dealings with people once we realise there are basic, fundamental differences in natures and viewpoints. Once we accept this we are less inclined to waste futile energy in trying to ‘convert or make over’ someone whose nature is different to our own.
