Sydney FC players at Menai junior soccer this Saturday
Sydney FC players will attend junior registration days at eight junior football clubs across Sydney this weekend as part of the club’s Community Program.
It is expected that the total number of registered junior players (male and female) in Sydney will break through the 120,000 barrier in 2008 as football continues to grow at all levels.
With no Hyundai A-League matches this weekend due to Australia’s World Cup qualifier against Qatar the Sydney FC players will be out and about as the hordes of kids register at some of the biggest junior clubs in Sydney.
Sydney FC players will be attending junior registration days in Sydney’s north, south, east and west at Lindfield, North Rocks, Seaforth, Colo, Bondi, Menai, Eagle Vale and Revesby.

Players will be signing autographs at the eight clubs and will help those clubs with fundraising initiatives as thousands of junior players sign up for the 2008 season. The eight clubs will also be presented with a signed Sydney FC ball and a Sydney FC poster.
The players to attend Menai Hawks Registration are 20 year old striker Ben Vidiac and 17 year old left back/midfielder Nick Tsattalios. Vidiac is a former Menai Hawks and Sutherland Shire Sharks player, while Tsattalios played with Carrs Park as a junior. The players will be at Buckle Reserve, Barnes Cres, Menai from 10am-11am on Saturday February 2.

Sydney FC Captain Tony Popovic said the registration day visits are the start of a winter blitz, which will see Sydney FC players attend schools and junior clubs throughout the winter season where the juniors are playing and the A-League is in recess.
“It’s important that we as players take the time and make the effort to help promote the game at the grassroots level and try to put something back into the game,” Popovic said. “These visits are a good way to inspire the youngsters and also help grow the game and Sydney FC at the junior level.”

(0438) 243 195 Miletich shines for Sutherland Girls Cricket
While Sutherland struggled in the three rounds of NSW Cricket’s inter-association under 15 girls competition played in late January, L Miletich was a standout in two of the three matches.
Miletich scored 26 in Sutherland’s total of 69 against Camden in round 1. Camden scored 3/72 to take the match. In the second round, North Sydney scored 5/248 and the chase became even more daunting for the locals when opener Miletich was run out for a duck. Sutherland collapsed to be all out for 12.
In the third round, Sutherland lost three early wickets against Central Coast before Miletich came in to compile an impressive 62. Unfortunately only E Ryan with 12 runs could stay with Militich for any length of time and the team was all out for 100. Despite losing early wickets to Sutherland bowlers Fallins and Campbell, Central Coast were too strong and passed Sutherland’s score for the loss of only three wickets.
